French origins, global prominence

The key to Spark Racing Technology’s success is the combination of its French roots and the valuable expertise within the company. Spark has steadily grown into a model for success and innovation, from its beginnings in the heart of Burgundy to international exposure and importance in Formula E.

French heritage

Founded in October 2012, Spark Racing Technology (SRT) is the brainchild of one man: renowned French motorsport figure Frédéric Vasseur, who gathered top engineers from all over the country to help develop his ambitious project. The SRT team comprises many talented men and women from the industry operating under the leadership of vastly experienced Technical Director Théophile Gouzin. Widely considered a birthplace of motorsport, France is the home of many competitive and innovative teams that have gone on to make a name for themselves on the international stage.

Since its creation, Spark has established itself as a reliable and legitimate partner thanks to its intrinsic values and know-how. What’s more, it has set an example for the Burgundy region that hosts its employees and facilities.

A company driven by innovation

Nowadays, innovation, sustainable development and new technologies are at the core of economic growth, both in France and abroad. Since 2012, SRT has become a key player in these sectors specialising in the design and build of fully electric systems for the cars of tomorrow.

Spark has received financial support from Bpifrance, a French national programme that supports innovation, and regional grants from the European Regional Development Fund.

Emmanuel Cordelle, Innovation Project Manager at Bpifrance Burgundy:

It is our mission to support business growth, particularly in innovation, investment and international development. By helping Spark Racing Technology we remain true to these core values and our partnership is based on mutual trust. They have completed this significant technical challenge and delivered in record time. We took a chance validating their project but Spark’s energy and bravery is proof that anything is possible. With authority in innovative technology, electric powertrains, international development opportunities and sports programmes, this project truly embraces the future!

Gathering valuable skills

While still based in France, Spark has collaborated with numerous European partners to boost the international presence and prominence of the Formula E project. Indeed, SRT is associated with an exemplary selection of world-renowned, innovative firms specialising in motor racing and new technologies.

Frédéric Vasseur, President of Spark Racing Technology:

Our pioneering concept is often what attracts our French and international partners, and it is their support that has enabled us to launch our programme with confidence. Spark has become a real catalyst, attracting prestigious European partners such as Williams, McLaren, Dallara, Michelin, Renault, Hewland and AOTech. The combination of these skills and expertise has made Formula E the success it is today, which we hope will encourage even more valued supporters to get involved in the development of electric technologies for the automotive industry.”
