Our Projects

Once upon a time, there was…Formula E! Spark is born with the foundation of this pioneering racing Championship and its founders and promoters. From there on, Spark has grown up into other categories like concept cars for car manufacturers up to Extreme E/H through small mobility solutions such as LMX to name only a few. But Formula E has given Spark its essence and its unique competitive edge in a very challenging racing industry.

Formula E stays Sparks mission number 1 to stay true to its roots and to its partners.

Starting with a blank sheet of paper was a stimulating task. There wasn’t any known boundary. Spark enjoyed a lot of leeway. Our engineers created something entirely unique whilst remaining within a coherent and ambitious set of technical specs. There was a framework drafted together with FIA and high expectations from all partners and teams. And a very tight time schedule! The ultimate goal was to create the first ever fully electric racing single-seater.

Spark also developed the all-new chassis for the second Generation (Gen2). One of the biggest challenges was to double the driving range of the car. It was mostly accomplished through a much-refined aero design, lower weight and a better efficiency in the drivetrain. Safety and innovation were the main drivers of this project.

FIA has renewed its trust in Spark by granting the development and engineering of the all new Generation 3 Formula E due to start in 2022. This is an incredible achievement for our teams, a true sense of responsibility in view of the technological challenges. And also it is a huge motivation to pull forward our innovation. All Spark’s employees and partners are enthused by the project and we are giving our utmost best to beat FIA’s expectations.

Spark is once again confirmed as an official supplier for the Gen4 race car set to debut in Season 13 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in 2026/27. GEN4 will be a net zero race car by design like its predecessor but the boundaries of what is possible in this space are to be pushed yet further. We are so proud to continue to supply the chassis' to Formula E as it has been done since 2014.

Extreme E GEN1

An incredible project inspired by Alejandro Agag and started from scratch at Spark brought this unique 4×4 beast to life in the first ever Extreme E race in Al Ula (Saudi) in April 2021. The show must go on. Sebastien Loeb, Carlos Sainz and Johan Kristoffersson to name only a few, are all competing behind the wheel of our Extreme Odyssey car.

Extreme H

Launching in 2025, Extreme H represents a bold, pioneering step forward in the clean energy revolution, demonstrating cutting-edge hydrogen technology in a competitive racing environment.

The Pioneer 25 is designed to demonstrate the viability and performance capabilities of hydrogen fuel cells, setting a new standard in motorsport.

The car is designed and manufactured by Spark Racing Technology, and equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell from Symbio, Extreme H’s Official Fuel Cell Provider, and has undergone an intensive testing programme equivalent to three seasons of racing in readiness for its debut campaign.

Electric Mobility, LMX Bikes

Spark and LMX Bikes are close partners which allows to capitalize on mutual Engineering strengths and develop the next generations of high performance two wheels E-bikes and Motorbikes. We also support small mobilities customer as we integrate our unique in-house solutions into for their projects. Together we are also working at insourcing critical components to better control our destiny.

Engineering for OEMs

For obvious confidentiality reasons we can not give details of all the projects which we co-developed and co-engineered with major Premium Car manufacturers but it includes awards-winning prototypes and unique start-up electric and hydrogen concepts.
