Our Story

Official designer and builder of first formula E cars.
Founded by Frédéric Vasseur, Spark Racing Technology is a company specialized in the development and engineering of high-performance e-mobility cars and modules. The companys foundation coincides with the birth of the Formula E project. In November 2012, the Formula E promoter and organizer, Formula E Holdings, declared that Spark Racing Technology was officially mandated to design and build all 40 Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seaters.

Our first prototype is homologated
In June 2013, the FIA homologated Spark’s prototype and made Spark the exclusive provider of all electric single-seaters for the inaugural season of Formula E.

Formula E Championship’s first season
Starting of the Championship’s first season, Spark Racing Technology was the unique provider of all Formula E teams for their racing cars and spare parts. Spark also provided racing assistance and engineering services to some of the teams.

Spark won the new FIA Formula E Tender
Spark won the new FIA Formula E Tender with a completely redesigned race car including increased autonomy and safety features, at very affordable costs compared to most highly competitive Racing Series.

New adventure with Extreme E
Spark becomes official car provider, until 2024, for the brand new Extreme E Championship that started in 2021. Spark also provides race assistance and spare parts for Extreme E.

Spark won the all new FIA Formula E Tender Gen3
FIA has renewed its trust in Spark Racing Technology by granting the development and engineering of the all new Generation 3 Formula due to start in 2022. This is an incredible achievement for our teams, a true sense of responsibility in view of the technological challenges.

Beltoise prototype finalized
and tested on circuit conditions.

Extreme E launches Extreme H
deriving its highly successful electric SUV into an hydrogen version. Spark is chosen to write down this chapter as well.

Spark won the new FIA Formula E Tender Gen4
Set to debut in Season 13 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in 2026/27, Spark is once again confirmed as official supplier for the Generation 4 car. It will be a net zero race car by design like its predecessor but the boundaries of what is possible in this space are to be pushed yet further.
